This sweet girl had a very rough start...…all she wants now is a loving forever home suited to meet her needs!
As a puppy, Flower was attacked by another dog on her own home-a concerned neighbor and experienced rescuer tried to convince the owner to take her to an emergency vet. By the following morning he had not done so but instead agreed to let the rescuer rush her badly injured, barely conscious, little body to a nearby vet. After she was stabilized, it became clear that her leg would need to be amputated.
It was tough but this determined little soul made it through and has fully recovered. She is still understandably fearful when first meeting others. During her recovery she was bounced around a bit from foster to foster- not her fault- just the circumstances of the humans helping her.
Flower is a heart-melting friendly girl who is prone to some big feelings when she first meets people. But when properly introduced it takes about 5 minutes you're "in," you're her friend for life.
Thankfully, during her past many months Flower been receiving the training and other supports needed to give her more confidence and a feeling of safety. Her fosters have loved her so much that they all stay in touch and one even travels from Brooklyn to Westchester on a regular basis to visit her!
If you fall in love with her, you would need to commit to following her introduction protocol in your own home to help Flower continue making positive associations with new people.
Miss Flower would likely do best as an only pet in a home with a fenced yard and someone who is home most of the time.Having other pets is not a deal breaker and would need to be considered case by case.
Flower is truly full of sunshine- she is energetic and likes to play and go for walks- having 3 legs does not slow her down at all. She has even gone swimming in a life vest and loves it!
She is like a spring when her family or someone she knows visits- she literally jumps for joy. It would be great to find a patient, committed adopter who has experience with dogs -especially pitties- who need some extra support to manage their fearful behaviors. Flower needs loving guidance to feel safe.
