Adopt or Foster a Dog

Pet Rescue is dedicated to providing cats and dogs with a second chance to find loving and safe homes.
Dogs currently available for adoption are featured below. New animals are added as they become available.
You can help! Please share their profiles, because every adoption makes room for another deserving pet.

Please be sure to check the status of the dog you may be interested in adopting.  The status of a particular dog will be one of the following:

  • Adoptable - Dog has not yet been adopted out to a family although there may be applications that are still in the process of being evaluated.  In addition, following approval the applicant will meet the dog with their family to make sure it is a good fit.
  • Adoption Pending - Approved applicant has scheduled a meet and greet with the dog and an adoption seems likely.
  • Adopted- Dog has been adopted but will continue to remain our website for a short period of time following the actual adoption.

Please come meet our adoptable dogs at our Meet & Greet, every Saturday from 11:30am - 1:30pm at Pet Rescue, 7 Harrison Ave, Harrison NY 10528. Please call us with any questions you may have about our sweet dogs: 914-835-3332

A little About Duke...

Duke is a wonderful, loyal, and sweet dog. He greets you at the door when you get home with gentle jumps and loving excitement. His favorite activities are cuddling on the couch, playing with his squeaky toy, and training for treats. He loves long walks and running. Despite looking like an Aussie he doesn't want too much exercise though- he likes the simple life.
Duke is excellently trained. He knows how to sit, the place command, to go to his crate, how to heel on leash, and how to walk perfectly at your side without pulling.
He has a mischievous side and he is kind of like a cat in some ways. He likes to knock over the TV remote or drink from unattended water cups when he thinks you are not looking.
He is so welcoming to new people that everyone that meets him remarks on how wonderful a dog he is. And they are right, Duke is a stellar addition to any home.
Duke's quirks arise when he leaves the home. He is leash reactive when he sees other dogs on the street. After three weeks at an intensive board and train program and a new regimen, he has become much better. However, you will always need to watch Duke when he sees other dogs outside of the home.
Other than this quirk Duke is a perfect, beautiful boy, well-suited to suburban life. He could do great with another dog companion. He loves other dogs when he can interact with them off leash in an environment in which he is comfortable.
