Teddy was found alone roaming the streets. Petrescue was alerted by a compassionate police officer, and Teddy is now as happy as can be at Petrescue. Teddy is a one person dog... a friendly, affectionate boy, who loves to be with his special person. He is a lover, and ideally, his forever home will be with a single person to whom he can give all his love. He will be your best buddy and stick close. Teddy loves to play fetch and chase! When he's playing fetch, if he's excited he will do these adorable little bunny hops as he goes after the toy! He can also play tug a little bit, but has an extremely weak grip when tugging, and releases the toys very quickly. Teddy really enjoys pets and full-body massages. He loves laying and generally being near the person to whom he is bonded. He will follow his person around like a little shadow. If you're busy, he doesn't mind hanging out elsewhere in the same room - he is happy just to be able to see you! Teddy loves to be held and carried, and will try to give you kisses and/or snuggle into the crook of your neck if he can. If you set him down before he's ready, he will hop up and ask you for more! Teddy has sensitive skin, but enjoys being gently combed, and will lay down and relax throughout the combing session. - Training comes easily to Teddy, as he is very food motivated, but also responds well to praise. His foster mom says Teddy LOVES to walk, and has happily walked for 2-3 hours a day. He can easily walk for over an hour at a time, and has lots of energy in his little body! During walks, Teddy loves taking 'zoomies' breaks on large patches of grass. He'll sprint in circles around you, grinning the entire time! Teddy became housetrained within a week of joining his foster family. He is very quick to pick up on rules and patterns! He has mostly cemented his understanding of the 'sit' command. Teddy also understands the concept of a release word. He's been practicing holding the 'sit' until the word "Okay!" paired with a hand motion. He practices this whenever he gets a meal, a treat, or a walk before going outside and he's doing well. All in all, Teddy is a love, who is very smart, energetic, and sweet, with so much love and companionship to offer to the right person. Be sure to complete anapplication on line and come to our Meet & Greet Saaturday 11:30-1:30.
