Adopt or Foster a Dog

Pet Rescue is dedicated to providing cats and dogs with a second chance to find loving and safe homes.
Dogs currently available for adoption are featured below. New animals are added as they become available.
You can help! Please share their profiles, because every adoption makes room for another deserving pet.

Please be sure to check the status of the dog you may be interested in adopting.  The status of a particular dog will be one of the following:

  • Adoptable - Dog has not yet been adopted out to a family although there may be applications that are still in the process of being evaluated.  In addition, following approval the applicant will meet the dog with their family to make sure it is a good fit.
  • Adoption Pending - Approved applicant has scheduled a meet and greet with the dog and an adoption seems likely.
  • Adopted- Dog has been adopted but will continue to remain our website for a short period of time following the actual adoption.

Please come meet our adoptable dogs at our Meet & Greet, every Saturday from 11:30am - 1:30pm at Pet Rescue, 7 Harrison Ave, Harrison NY 10528. Please call us with any questions you may have about our sweet dogs: 914-835-3332

A little About Wesson...

This incredibly handsome boy is Wesson. If you are looking for a gentle, laid back, cuddly best friend then no need to look any further,  Wesson is your man!
Wesson’s favorite pastimes include walking, sniffing, cuddling, sleeping and eating. Wesson loves to explore and really enjoys his walks. He is a curious boy and likes to stop and sniff his surroundings. He has been known to chase a squirrel or two but he is very particular about which squirrels are worth his time. He gets a bit chilly with the New York winter, so he appreciates a warm jacket or sweater during the colder months. He still is working on his leash manners but he’s a smart guy and gets better every day.
When at home he is a champion sleeper.  He lies in his bed next to his foster mom while she works, occasionally waking from his slumber to gently paw her for a little cuddle time.  He will nuzzle his head into you for affection and loves to have his belly rubbed.  After a nice session of affection he will retreat to his spot by the window to look outside and fall into a deep sleep. When fully rested, Wesson loves to catch some rays in a fenced in yard while watching what the neighbors are up to.
Wesson gets quite excited for his mealtimes, but don’t be fooled by this hound. He has a very discerning palate and lets you know very quickly what treats are up to par. He is crate trained, but is not a huge fan so goes in begrudgingly. Wesson has come a long way with his potty training but still needs a little work in that area. Wesson likes all people, big and small and enjoys his canine companions.  He does prefer a calmer dog as the puppy energy can be a bit overwhelming for this easy going boy.   Dogs jumping on him can be quite a nuisance so a home where he is either the only dog or one with calmer canine pals would be perfect. That being said, don’t be fooled by his calm nature... he is a fast fella and enjoys running with his buddies when he gets the chance.
Wesson is a perfect sidekick and would be so excited to find his forever family. Applications are being accepted now, and pending our standard veterinary evaluation, he will be available for adoption shortly
