Adopt or Foster a Dog

Pet Rescue is dedicated to providing cats and dogs with a second chance to find loving and safe homes.
Dogs currently available for adoption are featured below. New animals are added as they become available.
You can help! Please share their profiles, because every adoption makes room for another deserving pet.

Please be sure to check the status of the dog you may be interested in adopting.  The status of a particular dog will be one of the following:

  • Adoptable - Dog has not yet been adopted out to a family although there may be applications that are still in the process of being evaluated.  In addition, following approval the applicant will meet the dog with their family to make sure it is a good fit.
  • Adoption Pending - Approved applicant has scheduled a meet and greet with the dog and an adoption seems likely.
  • Adopted- Dog has been adopted but will continue to remain our website for a short period of time following the actual adoption.

Due to the extremely high number of applications we have been receiving, the review process will take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.

A little About Pixie...

Pixie is a beautiful 46-pound female Merle Australian Shepherd mix, estimated to be about 5 years old...possibly a little younger, with striking blue eyes. She is the definition of a lovebug: a devoted snuggler who shares as many kisses as she's allowed and even likes to give hugs!Pixie is currently looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Unfortunately, her canine housemate has not accepted her into the household. In the three weeks she has been with her current family, Pixie has shown herself to be a sweet, affectionate, and loyal companion. She is completely housebroken and crate trained, quiet in the home, and loves being around people. Pixie is smart, energetic, and playful, while also being respectful of cats. She enjoys her daily leash walks in the park and especially loves playing with younger dogs she meets along the way. Pixie may have spent part of her life living outdoors, so she is still learning some household manners. She can be strong on leash and occasionally jumps up when she's excited, but her loving nature shines through in everything she does. One important thing to note: Pixie has an aversion to bicycles and is most comfortable when they are avoided during walks, even if she spies a bicycle while she is in the car.  Her ideal home would be with an experienced dog owner who understands her breed mix and can continue helping her thrive. Older children would be best, and a securely fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus. Most of all, Pixie is looking for someone who doesn't mind being showered with kisses every day! If you're searching for a sweet, affectionate companion who will happily cuddle up beside you, greet you with hugs, and fill your life with love, Pixie may be the perfect match. Be sure to complete an application on line and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30.
