Adopt or Foster a Dog

Pet Rescue is dedicated to providing cats and dogs with a second chance to find loving and safe homes.
Dogs currently available for adoption are featured below. New animals are added as they become available.
You can help! Please share their profiles, because every adoption makes room for another deserving pet.

Please be sure to check the status of the dog you may be interested in adopting.  The status of a particular dog will be one of the following:

  • Adoptable - Dog has not yet been adopted out to a family although there may be applications that are still in the process of being evaluated.  In addition, following approval the applicant will meet the dog with their family to make sure it is a good fit.
  • Adoption Pending - Approved applicant has scheduled a meet and greet with the dog and an adoption seems likely.
  • Adopted- Dog has been adopted but will continue to remain our website for a short period of time following the actual adoption.

Please come meet our adoptable dogs at our Meet & Greet, every Saturday from 11:30am - 1:30pm at Pet Rescue, 7 Harrison Ave, Harrison NY 10528. Please call us with any questions you may have about our sweet dogs: 914-835-3332

A little About Bert...

**WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR BERT, BUT PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR OUR PETRESCUE SITE FOR OTHER AVAILABLE DOGS.**

Hi I’m Bert, a young, handsome, characterful, loving terrier mix. My looks aren’t my only charming quality, I also love other dogs, friendly people, toys, walking with my humans and having a snooze in my crate after gnawing on a bone or chew toy. Oh, I’m also house broken, but am not a fan of cats..They are a little too exciting for this gentleman!  I’m great on the leash, I might pull if I see a friend I want to have a play with but I like walking by your side mostly. I'm still getting used to city life but it's only taken a week for me to get used to fast bikes zooming past

Take me to the park and I’ll make sure I find a dog friend my own age to have a wrestle with. I’m never aggressive. I just truly love to play with my dog friends and I’m always on the look out for them. If I meet a dog that doesn’t want to play then I just sit patiently nearby because I like being in their company. Because of this I do think I would do well in a home with another dog friend, but would also do well on my own.

My humans got me some toys and I’m much more interested in those than I am food, although I do enjoy a bit of bacon and maybe some string cheese - I’ll even sit for you to get it!

At night I get a bit nervous on walks and I don’t like big scary figures, I’m never vicious but I do bark when I’m scared.

I’ll finish by letting you know that I LOVE a belly scratch, an ear scratch or any kind of petting and letting me know I’ve been a good boy. I really live for it and it just underscores the happy feeling I get when I'm with you.
