is a beautiful Pekingese rejected by a breeder because she is an albino. She is about 4 years old and 15 lbs. She is very, very sweet with sparkling blue eyes. This little girl walks nicely on leash without pulling and is very calm. At home, she is a couch potato and loves just cuddly up with her people. She will happily fall asleep in your arms. She can be a little dominant with other dogs but seems fine with cats.

This cute little girl is very cuddly and affectionate. She is about 1 1/2 years old and around 45 lbs. Laila was born with hip dysplasia and was evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon as well as consulted with by the orthopedic dept of Cornell University Vet School. It was determined that she is doing so well that surgery is not needed at this time. She is wonderful on the leash and also loves playing with other dogs. She is very affectionate and loves everyone. Her hips are also doing great with exercise and a good diet. Her small size works in her favor. Her elbows are slightly turned at an odd angle but again have not caused her any discomfort. She should lead a very healthy life with exercise, good diet and a loving home.

While he will never win the "Tour de France", he was very capable of keeping up with the cars when he was picked up on a busy highway. Layla is a sweet and mellow 15-16 months old, 25 lb black lab mix (with some sort of hound, she loves sniffing around!). She's as happy sitting beside you on the sofa as she is dragging you on some adventure through the woods. Very friendly with children, adults and other dogs (we don't know about cats). She is crate-trained and housebroken. When you get home to her, she's happy to greet you with a hug and some crazy dancing. She can chew through a leash or a shoe in a matter of seconds so she needs a home where she can be kept safe (i.e. dog-proofed). She only barks when absolutely necessary, which is almost never. She never complains about going in her crate, but her adopted family should be able to spend time with her throughout the day, so she can stretch her legs. She doesn't ask for much, just a lot of belly scratches!

She is sweet, affectionate and playful.. she loves "her people" but can be skittish around strangers. This is a very smart girl who will learn quickly. She has been through obedience training and knows basic command. She would make a great agility dog. She would do best in a home that has a steady routine without too many visitors since she is weary of strangers. Right now she is going to the dog park every day and is learning to trust more. So far she is going up to everybody for kisses. She also loves other dogs her size (she is quite small) and would love to have a friend to play with. She will be spayed Tuesday. Well-bred Shelties are bright, responsive, and devoted to the family. They are suspicious of strangers and so are good watchdogs. They love to play ball and Frisbee, so are wonderful children's companions. Their desire to please makes them easier than many other breeds to train, so they are a delight to take on walks in the park and they tend to travel well.

Although Leah may be classified as a Whippet/Chihuahua mix, her foster family thinks of her as a character out of a Dr. Seuss book. This adorable 8 year-old girl was found wandering on the streets and taken from a shelter by Pet Rescue. She loves people and gets along great with other dogs and cats. Leah's four puppies are just the cutest little things! There is 1 boy and 3 girls. They were born on December 7th, 2006. These babies were born in a foster home with kids ranging from ages 5-14, other dogs, and cats. Therefore, they are very well socialized and get along with everyone. Their mama, Leah, is already in her new home but we think she is some kind of a hound mix. She weighs around 40-45 lbs. and many of the puppies look almost identical to her. Since most of the puppies look like her and the others look almost like pure breed black labs, we are assuming their father was a black lab mix or something thereof. One of the puppies is black and tan, an exact mix of the lab look and their mama's tan coloring. They are all very, very friendly and kissy. They are playful and cuddly, the perfect mix! You couldn't ask for better puppies! We are accepting applications now, but they will not be able to leave until they are 8 weeks old.

This cute boy is little, maybe 10-15 lbs. He looks like a chihuahua/dachshund mix of some sort. He is very good with other dogs and all of the people he met, but no cats for him. The people who gave him up obviously didn't take good care of this poor boy. His mother is a chi/pug/doxie looking dog who supposedly looks just like him. We think he is around 2 years old. He is housebroken, loving and very sweet. He follows his foster mom around and likes to be nearby his people.

is a shy but loving boy. He has come a long way in a short time. He now will cuddle, give kisses and come when called. He absolutely loves playing with other dogs, going for car rides and walks on a leash. He is exploring his foster family's back yard and house. Letti is a beautiful Beagle/Spaniel mix, about a year old and 35 lbs. Lettie is a sweet and loving dog who has easily gotten into the routine of our household of 5, including 3 kids. She is completely house trained. Lettie is also a quiet dog who rarely barks! It took a few days to even hear what she was capable of. She might bark at a passing dog outside as she is attentive. Lettie is a nice combination of cuddly, lovable, and excitable at the same time. When she is playing, she is like a pup, but when she is mellow, she is like a mush! She is good with other dogs, and we have been told she is good with cats as well. Logan may be the Jerry Seinfeld of dogs. This 30-lb., one-year-old Beagle is, in the words of his foster mom, "the sweetest, most lovable, goofy dog we have ever met." His personality and intelligence are what sets him apart, and he took all of one day to settle into a routine in his foster home. Besides the aforementioned goofiness, Logan is playful, quiet, lovable, good with all people including kids, other dogs and cats (though the cat reportedly isn't as good back). He is great on the leash unless he sees something he would like to chase. He was returned to us because he barked at the child and they are afraid since he is so large. As a result we would like to place him into a home without children under the age of 14.

"Luca is exceptional." But don't take our word for it...that's his foster mom talking! This trusting and tolerant Aussie/Collie mix is around 6 mos. old and about 20 lbs. Mom also reports: "He's friendly and very smart, walks well on a leash, appears to be housebroken, fetches, eats dry kibble and is great in the car. He's great with kids and other dogs, likes our cats (but they hate him!) and has a beautiful coat after his bath and brushing." You can't make this stuff up...

Lucky

is an absolutely adorable, playful, energetic and loving pup. We think that he is probably a mix of beagle, boxer and Jack Russel Terrier. His mom is small, only about 15 pounds so we don't expect him to be a very big adult. At 4 months of age he is still growing and will need some basic training but he is very smart and eager to please. He thoroughly enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes as well as people...and he has discovered the joys of fetching tennis balls. He loves to be outside whether on a leash or in the yard. Car rides are an adventure for him as well with all of the sights, sounds and smells rushing by. Because of Lucky's age he would do best in a home with human company during the day. Lucky is up to date on all shots and is housebroken.

Lucky is a happy-go-lucky six-month-old Australian Shepherd mix who gets along with everyone - dogs, cats and kids. About 40 pounds, he has a lot of energy and needs a home where he can run and play. He is housetrained and knows to chew on bones instead of furniture. He would benefit from some puppy training as he is a strong pup and still needs to work on his leash walking skills.

Sweet Lucky is a Lab mix, approx. 2 years old and 40 lbs. She greats the day with a happy dance and her tail is always wagging. She's completely housebroken and totally reliable when left at home. She came to us very shy but is making great strides and every day is relaxing more and more. She is still a little hand shy, but will come up to you for a kiss or a treat. She loves playing with her toys and all the other dogs in the family. She's great at chasing a ball but hasn't quite got the idea of returning it. Lucky needs a fenced yard and another dog in the family since this gives her a sense of security. She's good in the car and working on her leash skills and crate training. Lucky Joe is a sweet, loving, cuddly 1 1/2 year old boy. He looks like a German Shepherd sitting down because his corgi legs are so short yet his coloring, fur and ears are all GSD. He does have a cute corgi tail which jiggles from side to side when he meets a new friend....and everyone is his friend. He is sits quietly in the car, sleeps at his foster mom's feet while she is working, gets along with other dogs and cats and is always happy. He is also easy on a leash and not bothered by commotion around him. This guy is housebroken and passed the chewy puppy stage- in fact he is perfect. Lucky Joe has be neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. He is waiting for the family to love him forever.

Playful and obedient, he's friendly with everyone, and particularly loves to play with children and other dogs (he's even fine with cats). is a purebreed Boxer weighing 34 lbs. She is still a puppy and is only about 8-10 months old. She came to us from a high-kill shelter and something in her past has traumatized her, which breaks our hearts since she is so young. She loves people and is very sweet, gentle and affectionate, but is very fearful of loud noises (traffic) and other dogs. She is tentative and unsure in new situations. She would not walk more than a few steps when she first came to us and now walks nicely on quiet streets. She has come a long way since being with Pet Rescue, but she has a long way to go. She now wags her little tail and is happy to see the volunteers that walk her and spend time cuddling her. She needs a special home with lots of TLC and patience to help her come out of her shell and reassure her that everything will be ok. She needs to be an only dog. Lyle has a very lush and long coat. He looks a lot like a Golden and has the calm and gentle personality of a mature Golden. He is about 3 years old and around 60 lbs. He is good with other dogs except large male dogs. He is gentle on the leash and already knows some basic commands. He was given up by his owner because he was heartworm positive. We have had him treated and he is ready to go to his forever home now. He is in a foster home and they report that Lyle is a very nice boy. He is calm, great with kids and other dogs (except large males), seems to be fully housebroken, walks well on leash and obeys commands. He seems to be afraid of men and would prefer an all-female household.
