**UPDATE: Kathy Lee has been to an eye specialist for a thorough exam. She has some scarring on both eyes as well as dryness. She was sent home with daily eye drops and ointment -and there is chance she may regain some eye sight in at least one of her eyes with treatment.**

This adorable little girl is only 9 lbs and around 8 years old. She was used by a breeder as a breeding dog. She was kept all her life in a dark basement and as a result she is now blind. She already weighs around 25 lbs and will probably end up weighing around 50-60 lbs when full grown. Kelcey loves food and to be cuddled--a total lap dog! She is still getting used to the leash. Bearded Collies require lots of attention and exercise, just like all puppies! While not hypoallergenic, Beardies are a low dander dog. Kelcey is a very special girl! While Kiba hasn't quite found her forever home, she has found her calling in life as a service dog for a person with Diabetes! Kiba's journey began when a drug addict was selling her as "bait" for dog fighting. She was bought by a young woman who has rescued dogs on her own and placed in a foster home. In that home she was attacked by another dog and needed stitches in both ears. She was then placed with PetRescue where she blossomed living with a family and three other dogs. She was adopted to a woman who is diabetic. Kiba would bite at her toes and knock into her insulin pump ( she had never displayed any such behavior any where else.) It just was too much for the woman to manage, so she was tearfully returned to Pet Rescue. Kiba's foster mom related the story to friends, who told her about a service dog in their family who was trained specifically to alert their 8 year old grandson that his insulin levels were dropping - even when the child was sleeping. With Kiba's sensitivity to this particular scent we thought that she might be a candidate for this type of training. After an initial screening - which Kiba passed with flying colors - she was accepted to Heaven Scent Paws in Missouri. Kiba will under go 3 months of intensive training and then be placed in an appropriate home. Kiba begins her new journey by going to boot camp with a trainer in Westchester (commandk9@verizon.net) who will get her ready to walk through crowded airports, fly on planes and take rides on trains. She will be escorted to Missouri in the cabin of the plane as a "service dog in training" by the owner and director of the program. We, therefore, cannot accept applications for Kiba. Kiley is the kind of pup who falls in love with you, greets you whenever you arrive with her tail wagging and her eyes saying how happy she is to see you. Rub behind her ears and she gets a big grin, though she wouldn't mind if you rub her belly too. This 12 week old, 20 lb. lab mix gets along very well with people and dogs of all ages, but if left to her own devices she is so funny entertaining herself by throwing toys up in the air to play with and chase. When she's done she's off to her bed or at your feet for her nap, just enjoying the closeness. In the evening, she relaxes and is quite content if you have time to nestle her in your arms but won't bother you if you don't. Kiley is truly a very smart, loyal, affectionate dog who can accompany you anywhere and who definitely aims to please as she walks well on the leash, sleeps through the night, is crate trained, working on housebreaking and sitting on command. These sweet girls are "perfect" Honey, Hope and Sandy are all paper trained, do not bark and have shown no signs of being overly nippy. They are docile, love to be held and very trusting. They are approximately 8 weeks old and weigh between 8 and 11 lbs ( Honey is the biggest). Their mother looked like a mini Lab, about 20 lbs. Going by the size of these cutie's paws, they should be around 40 - 50 lbs when full grown. They get along well with Rebel, our Black Lab., and show no signs of aggression. These puppies would make ideal pets for anyone. Their easy going dispositions make them great pets for children.

King is a yet another victim of these tough economic times. His family lost their home and as a result, so did King. When the family moved on, they were unable to take King to their new apartment. He ended up at the Yonkers Animal Shelter where Pet Rescue found him. They could not tear themselves away from those sad and pleading eyes. He is a calm and quiet guy and was the only dog not barking at the gate, but was sitting quietly and patiently. King is a neutered male, approximately 2-3 years old. He loves playing ball and will happily bring his ball back to you and will sit, stay and leave it on command, he is extremely obedient. His leash training is coming along nicely and we believe he is housetrained. His favorite pastime is sitting quietly with people and patiently waiting for a scratch...He is good with other dogs and likes human companionship very much. King should not go to a home with cats.

is a gentle boy that is about 2 years old and very calm. He is a couch potato type of dog that will be happy with a few short walks a day and lots of down time. He is about 50 lbs and gentle on the leash. He is in a foser home with cats and small dogs. He likes everybody and goes to the dog park every day. He is house broken too.

Kira

is a wonderful dog who is just looking for an owner to please. She is friendly, sweet and gets along with all other dogs. She walks nicely on the leash and would love a home that wants a smart and willing dog. She needs to occupy her mind as much as her body. She is about 61 lbs and 2 years old. We are not sure if she is house broken.

Kirby

is very sweet but a little shy. He is about 2 years old and around 32 lbs. He warms up quickly and will make a great pet for a quiet home.

Kirby is an adorable terrier, pom, maltese mix- with a white shaggy hair cut. He is about 7 months old and 10 pounds. He has a wonderful disposition - always happy and friendly. He likes to be in the middle of the action in his foster home and wants to go where they go. He gets along with all of the dogs, cats and kids he meets. Kirby is sweet, playful and extremely social. He is beyond the chewing puppy stage and seems housebroken. Kirby has been neutered and is up to date on all of his vaccinations. He is ready to be picked up by his forever family.

** One puppy remains - the one with the RED collar & more black muzzle ** This 8 week old sweetheart (Kirby) is just a joy to be around. He is gentle with children, plays well with the other dogs in their foster home and is good with cats. He loves to go for rides in the car and sleeps like a perfect angel all through the night. Not only is he cute, but also incredibly smart. We just started basic training and both immediately learned to sit for a treat and they have almost mastered walking on a leash. It has been three days and the only accidents he had was in the puppy pen overnight. It is hard to believe that someone left him and his brother out in the cold just days after they were born. He will make a wonderful companion in his forever home. Please open your heart to these babies who were given a second chance at life. .

Kitty

is the best dog you could ask for! We like to call her a "cheagle" (a name of a designer breed that is half chihuahua and half beagle). Weighing in at around 10 lbs and around 2-3 years old, Kitty is perfect to carry around in your purse, but she would love to go on a run with you any day! She loves cats, dogs and kids, too! Kitty loves to give kisses and will lick your face endlessly!! We are not sure if she is potty trained as we have not had her on a schedule (because of her puppies), but she tends to like to go outside rather than on the paper in the "puppy room" so it should be a fairly easy task to tackle. Since Kitty came to Pet Rescue with her sister, Dizzy, who has since been adopted, she has always lived with another dog. She is totally attached to her puppies, and it just breaks our heart to take them all away from her. Since all of her puppies have gone to their forever homes but Shiloh, it would be a dream come true to have her and Shiloh be adopted together!!!! If the perfect homes come along we will separate them, it would just be fabulous to see the girls go together!! She has really been the best mother we have ever fostered and she just loves to be with her babies. Kitty would love to sleep in your bed at night and be with you all day long!! Kiwi

is an adorable poodle who never got to enjoy life as a pet. He is about 8 years old and around 9 lbs. He is not used to being cuddled and still gets a little scared. He stiffens up completely. But he likes to sit on the sofa and watch TV with you. He is great with all other pets. He would be happy in a calm adult home. Please fill out an adoption application.

Koa is a sweet and gentle boy. He loves to sit in your lap or go for long walks. He gets along with other dogs and cats. He has not been around young children. He is around 4 years old and 8 lbs.

Kodiak

is one of Tammy's puppies and the most sensitive of the litter. He and his siblings are about 8 weeks old and weigh around 10 lbs. They are very sweet, playful and snuggly. We are guessing they will be on the medium-large side. Please fill out an adoption application.

Kohl

is a beautiful Lab mix, about 55 lbs. She is friendly, outgoing and knows some basic commands. She is quite a character and will keep you laughing with her silly antics.

Koko

Koko is a beautiful Shepard mix, weighing 54lbs and is 2yrs old. She loves to go for rides in the car and enjoys sitting in the front seat. She especially loves going to the dog park to play with the other dogs and loves to play catch ball and play frisbee. She is good with children and is comfortable being around them. Koko is a little shy around adults,but has improved a lot since she has been going to the dog park. She is completely house broken and will let you know when she has to go out. She loves to go for long walks and is easy on the leash. Koko is good at following commands and finds it easy to learn new commands. She gets very attached when she gets to know you. Koko is a joy to have and I know who ever adopts her is getting a very special girl.

Kota & Osa

Kota and Osa are two 16 week old German Shepherd puppies. They are the Yin and Yang of the puppy world. Kota (darker pup), the male, is more outgoing and happy go lucky. Osa (lighter pup), the female, is a bit more reserved and shy. However, once you gain her trust, she is all cuddles and tail wags. Both pups are sweet and submissive to people and respectful of other animals. Together, they encourage each other to play and investigate their surroundings. They are both crate trained and we are working on the house training Kota and Osa live with a big brother Shepherd whom they both adore, four cats and kids. Perhaps you would like to take two, they are small (at least for now). These pups are Sheena's babies.

Kricket

This little girl is like a clown. She can make so many funny faces and is just so happy all the time. She is only 15 lbs and around 7-8 mo. old. She would be a great family dog.

Kricket

is an adorable girl, 6-7 months old and 34 lbs. The vet estimates Krickets weight to reach about 50 lbs. She is VERY cuddly and loves to lounge in the hammock in the back yard. She also loves to chase and de-fuzz tennis balls. Kricket gets along really well with the other dogs and enjoys chasing cats. She does enjoy chasing cats. She walks well on a leash, sleeps well in her crate, and she knows some basic commands. She is also housebroken and spayed. Kricket would not do well in the city, she would love a nice yard to run around in.

Kristin

Kristin and her sister Kricket (also posted) are adorable Spaniel/Lab mixes, about 20--25 lbs and 5 months old. They are sweet, sweet, sweet! Both are friendly, playful and snuggly.

5 adorable puppies, 8-9 weeks old, 4 female & 1 male (last photo being held by green jacket). They are very sweet, playful and friendly. They are in a foster home with lots of kids dropping by and are very well socialized. They are a real "Heinz-57" breed -- but if we had to guess, we see beagle, shepherd and maybe some spitz in at least 2 of them.

Kristy

is a black Schnauzer mix who weighs approximately 20 lbs and is about 1-2 years old. This sweet dog has a tail that wags indefinitely and beautiful big brown eyes. She just wants love and affection.

Krystal

is the mom of the adorable pups listed separately. She is only about 2 years old and around 29 lbs. She is gentle, loving and outgoing. She loves everybody and is very good natured. 5 adorable Sheltie/Golden mix puppies, 5 males. They are about 7 weeks old and weigh 7-8 lbs. They have been living in a foster home with their mom (who is only about 28 lbs), other dogs & kids and have been very well socialized. They are very sweet, playful and cuddly. Kuzy

Kuzy is a sweet, quiet, affectionate Poodle terrier mix about 2 years old and 14 lbs. He seems to be housebroken and doesn’t seem to shed. He is a lap dog and when he wants you to pick him up he stands on his hind legs and tries to climb into your lap. He would benefit from another dog to show him the ropes or he could be by himself. He is so quiet he would do well in an apartment. He walks nicely on a leash and is quiet in his crate. Until he gets to know you he might be fussy with his food or a toy, so no young children please. If you want to share your time with a sweet dog who loves to be by your side, Kuzy would make a great companion.

Kyle

Kyle is a gorgeous Yellow Lab mix, about a year old and 55 lbs. He has a typical Lab personality -- very sweet, friendly and outgoing. He is strong on leash and will need some training, but will repay you with lots of hugs and kisses.

This gentle soul has the markings of a Border Collie but the temperament of a Bernese mountain dog. At 1.5 years old, and 65 lbs, Kyle fully housebroken. He has quickly stolen the hearts of everyone in his foster home. He is wonderful and patient with children and dogs of all sizes, and would make an excellent candidate for therapy dog training. Kyle walks very nicely on a leash, enjoys going for car rides and leisurely hikes with his foster siblings. Kyle will be the most devoted friend in his new forever home.

Kylie

is an adorable little 12 week old puppy who loves to snuggle and play. Kylie loves to have her belly rubbed and be held. She is very, very kissy and adores attention.
