It was the biggest blast we've ever had! A sell-out crowd showed up for Pet Rescue's 30th anniversary gala on March 2. Our wonderful animal-loving guests enjoyed a festive evening mingling with friends while dining on an international buffe...t (Chinese, Greek, Italian and Mexican) at the VIP Club in New Rochelle. A big thank-you goes to our sponsors: Capital One - Larchmont Branch and Westchester K-9.
Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, we had a tremendous selection of silent auction items available for bidding - from handcrafted art works to sports merchandise to evenings out on the town. And so many were eager to support our vet care and rescue programs by "purchasing" a cleverly packaged stuffed animal that filled our house - which was close to empty by the end of the evening!Our MC, broadcaster Lou Young, led a lively auction of specialty items such as a guitar signed by Paul McCartney and a week-long Mexican Riviera vacation. Adopter Drew Kerr showed his video production that tracked Pet Rescue's roots back to the home of founder Sue Kamell in 1982.
We honored our special friends: Founder Sue Kamell; John and Denise Mara, volunteers and co-owners of the Giants; and long-time supporters Margaret Reilly-Antalec and Joe Antalec. The Mara's even brought a surprise guest - the Giant's Super Bowl trophy! For a donation to the cause, attendees were able to get their photo taken standing next to the Vince Lombardi trophy.
